A reminder. A song

Everyday I will be giving points for those of you who are playing and practicing guitar or studying the assignment.   I will be putting in zeros for anybody off task.  That means playing games, shopping online, wrestling, screwing around etc,     Your grade is going down.   Ridiculous as it seems, it's time  that you learn.

Remember, I can see your screens from my station.

A song to learn with notes and chords

End of Grading period

Check your assignments online.  Make sure I have them marked off correctly. Please come see me if something is wrong.   I will fix it.

Thursday, November 20, 2014

Grading period.

I am working on getting all your assignments marked off.  Look online at your grade and assignments and come up to me if something is not right.  I have not finished but still come up and we will mark it off then.  If you just turned in an assignment, you do not need to tell me, it will show in my Google reader or drive.

If you have not taken the test you have until Friday to do so.  Do not come up and take the test if you don't know it.

Here is the test again for you to practice.

Don't know the notes?  Go back and learn them in previous blog posts.

Hello.

Seriously practice.  You know I get irratated.  I'll be back Monday.

What should you be doing?

I want us to be able to play brown eyed girl as a class.  Let's try it today and you will see if you are where you should be.

More notes on the way as well, but let's get this song happening first.    Be aware of hiding behind your computer screen doing other things.  It is a huge distratiion, I get it, but this is your time to practice.  WE don't have a traditional music room which is a challenge, so you need to be more self directed in this room.

video reviews

Video Reviews

During the course of this class, you will have the opportunity to watch several educational videos.  After viewing the videos, you shall write a review of the video.  These are very useful for teachers and students.  It demonstrates that you are attentive during the video and taking notes (in other words, learning), and it helps teachers to choose a variety of videos that are more suited the needs of the class.
The video review should be no more than one page in length, and have two paragraphs.  The first paragraph is a summary paragraph.  It should be at least 7 sentences in length, containing the following:

1.    an introduction sentence stating the topic of the video
2.    identify 3 things you learned watching the video
3.     then explain what you learned about each thing

(I learned that new mountain chains form at convergent boundaries.  The wrinkling of land as it collides with another plate creates these mountains.)
The second paragraph is an evaluation of the video, and should be at least 5 sentences in length.  This is your chance to explain how the video helped you, or what you thought of the video.  You should be as descriptive as possible in this portion, because it will help to ensure future videos are more effective.  In the evaluation paragraph you should state the following:

·      identify at least one thing you liked about the video
·      identify at least one thing you disliked about the video
·      how did the video help explain concepts or ideas from the class
·      was it difficult to understand, or was it too slow paced
·      could you see and hear the video well enough

Let's try this

7th period.   We need a new plan of action.  We will experiment until we find what works.

3rd period, you guys are awesome.  Sorry you have to be my warm up class for 7th, but you are learning more and faster because you are on task.   Good for you.

7th.  You are not bad as a group but but it is a group class,  and a few of you are making it extremely difficult for me to teach you.     So, have faith on task students.  We will fix this.

What I expect.

1. Take you seats until I finish explaining our lesson

2.  When I am talking you are not and you are not playing guitar.   PERIOD.

3.  When the computers are on, you are working on the lesson.   Or,  another guitar related subject.

4.  You are respectful to each other, the guitars and your teacher.
